Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos. Let’s start by saying that pictures of this incredible island cannot give justice to the real, in person beauty. Everything is breathtaking…the views, the crystal blue water, the people, the weather (80s morning and night) …it doesn’t get better than this!

Where to stay

Hands down, the Shore Club. A luxurious resort with several pools, great restaurants, wonderful staff, comfortable accommodations, amazing spa, and 10 minutes from the airport. The Shore Club sits on Longbay Beach, the southern side of the island where the waters are shallow and calm which magnifies the turquoise waters. The beaches are pure white sand and have a very private, exclusive feel.

There are four beautiful pools….an adult only pool which is on the beach, private, and secluded, the Sea grapes pool with a swim up bar, and the Colonnade pool, which was by far our favorite. Lots of great seating, cabanas, and great music. The fourth is the lap pool, near the fitness center and yoga area.

Onsite food and drinks

Sui-Ren – Fine Dining option on the resort offering sushi and Asian inspired dishes

Almond Tree – Casual dining and awesome cocktails. We made sure to stop in and see our favorite bartender Anthony every evening!

The Rope Bar – A must see, poolside bar and light food.

Sea Grapes – Caribbean inspired food, poolside

What to do

Love Buggy Island Tour -Take a half day tour the 85% of the island with your entertaining guides Marvin and Nico, includes a tour at a historical site and a delicious lunch at the famous Conch Shack!

Conch Shack – If you don’t make the Love Buggy tour, you still have to get to the Conch Shack as featured in 1000 Places to See Before you Die. Amazing island food right on the beach with more Conch shells than you have ever seen in your life. We tried Conch Fritters for the first time…delicious!

La Famille Express – We took a jet ski out to this grounded shipwreck that is a little over three miles from shore. The water is so shallow you could practically walk out from the resort, but it was just a little too far. We were bound and determined to jump off the ship, like many others do, but once we saw the rust covered boat..it was a hard pass! After checking out the ship we took our jet ski to the neighboringTiki boat out in the ocean for a party on the sea with great music and drinks…definitely a must!

Lady Grace – Over at the Ritz Carlton you can book a sunset cruise on the luxury sailing catamaran, the Lady Grace. A fantastic husband and wife team run the ship with a full bar and gourmet food. After your trip you must stop in to the OKAICOS gift shop to get the most comfortable “Turks” sweatshirt you will ever own.

Provo Golf Course – Beautiful and challenging 18 hole championship golf course. A great plus….we were able to rent Titleist clubs on site, so we didn’t have to bring ours!

Places we did not go, but heard are great:

Iguana Island

The Looking Glass

Potcake Place

Destination Tips

Purchase the Fast Track at the Providenciales International airport! You will arrive, ready to get your vacation started and for a small fee will avoid the customs line. Do it, its worth it!

Arrive early for your flight out. It can get busy. Also, do not purchase the lounge access. Its a small room with some bagged snacks, you will not be happy after a large fee.
