At the tip of Baja California Sur, Los Cabos is approximately 1000 miles south of San Diego. Los Cabos is known for its nightlife, spas, renowned sport fishing tournaments, championship golf courses, and a haven for luxury yachters.
Where to Stay
We stayed at two different luxury resorts in Cabo, Chileno Bay and Le Blanc.
Chileno Bay – is an Auberge Resort…and it is hard to go wrong with Auberge. Chileno Bay has a boutique, luxury feel that is unbeatable. Chileno Bay has a protected cove, so the waters are much more tranquil than you will find at other resorts in Cabo. Beautiful pathways lined with meticulously manicured flowers and desert plants flow throughout the resort to the different areas. There are three pools, an adults-only pool, a family pool, and a kid’s pool. The pools are lined with pristine cabanas and loungers and picturesque palms. Floating bar tenders service the adult pool starting at 3 pm. We had a large, stunning room with a deep soaking tub and outdoor garden shower. The bath gels and lotions are exquisite, you will definitely want to get some to take home.
Chlieno Bay has 2 restaruants, Comal, Yaya, and a beachside taco bar TnT, as well as the El Monlino Coffee Shop. The staff is highly attentive and someone will always bring you a blanket to keep you warm when the evening winds pick up.
The Well is the resort’s beautiful spa which is perfect for couple’s sessions, bodywork, health coaching, and immersive experiences. A small tip…you may want to skip the specialty drink from the floating bar if you are booked for a massage…you wouldn’t want to sleep through it. That would be a shame, wouldn’t it?!?
Le Blanc is an adults-only, all-inclusive luxury resort. Staff members are abundant and they are highly attentive to the guests. Le Blanc has 3 pools with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean. While the beach has soft sand and is technically swimmable, the ocean is cold and the waves are intense. This is fairly typical for most of the beaches in Cabo.
The rooms are large, luxurious and comfortable. All suites have ocean views and are stocked with beverages and snacks. Room key bracelets are a great trend and are utilized at LeBlanc, making forgetting your room key a thing of the past. Each floor of the resort has its own butler/s who will assist in making dinner reservations, planning activities, etc. This can also be done prior to your stay via the LeBlanc App.
On-site restaurants include: Lumière – French Restaurant, Bella – Italian Dining, Habibi – Lebanese Cuisine with amazing Turkish Coffee, Blanc Ocean – is on the ocean and serves a seafood menu. This is the Main Dining area where breakfast, lunch, and dinner is served, Yama is an Asain-themed restaurant that serves Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes, Blanc Pizza has fresh pizza from the Brick oven, Blanc International has a breakfast buffet and steakhouse/grill options for lunch and dinner. There is also the Blanc Cafe which has amazing coffee, teas, pastries, small desserts, and ice cream. Additionally, dinners and planned events for guests take place throughout the week, such as Casino nights, or Burlesque shows. Our only dissatisfaction with the dining was that we were under the impression that as guests of the resort, we would not have an issue with reservations, but that was not the case. We did not make dinner reservations prior to our stay and this created an inability for us to eat where we desired. Be sure to book reservations in advance to experience all the resort has to offer.
Blanc Spa is quite impressive. We had a two-and-a-half-hour couples treatment that included a body scrub, sauna, steam, facials, and full body massage, with champagne and hors d’oeuvres. We definitely could have enjoyed another day at the spa.
Le Blanc is a large space and is great for having a destination event! There were many weddings and birthday celebrations taking place during our stay, from ceremonies overlooking the ocean to dance floors on the beach, they all looked spectacular. Whatever the occasion, LeBlanc staff will want to make it special for you. For our second wedding anniversary and rose petals filled our room to celebrate our special day.
The resort does have a membership program that offers specials and discounts throughout the year. Some guests described attending pressured sales sessions to purchase the membership, but that was not our experience. We were never approached and/or did not learn about the membership program.
What to do
If you’re planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas, here are some activities that you should consider:
- El Arco de Cabo San Lucas: Also known as “The Arch,” this iconic rock formation is a natural landmark located at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet. Take a glass bottom boat tour or water taxi to see it up close and enjoy the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The Arch of Cabo San Lucas is adjacent to Lovers Beach on the Sea of Cortez side and Divorce Beach on the rougher Pacific Ocean side.
- Lover’s Beach is a secluded and picturesque spot. It offers calm waters for swimming and snorkeling, and it’s a great place to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty and is frequented by Sea Lions.
- Whale watching is a popular attraction, and typically whales pass through Cabo between Mid-December and April. If this is something you are set on seeing it is recommended to travel between January and March to have your best chances! We actually did see some whales in May.
- Santa Maria Beach is considered one of the best snorkeling spots in Cabo, Santa Maria Beach boasts crystal-clear waters and a vibrant underwater ecosystem. Snorkeling tours are available to explore the colorful marine life and coral reefs.
- Marina Cabo San Lucas is the heart of Cabo San Lucas, offering a lively atmosphere with restaurants, bars, shops, and luxury yachts. Take a leisurely stroll, enjoy a meal with a view, or book a fishing charter to try your luck at catching marlin or tuna.
- Todos Santos is a great town for a day trip. Located about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas Todos Santos is known for its art galleries, historic buildings, and beautiful beaches, it offers a relaxed and bohemian atmosphere.
- Golf options are robust in Los Cabos and there are many world-class golf courses to pick from. Courses throughout the region have been developed by legends of the sport including Jack Nicklas, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods and Tom Fazio.
- Explore the beaches on horseback or motorized bike. There are plenty of opportunities to take in the long stretches of beach with a guide!
Restaurants
Nobu at the Nobu Hotel in Los Cabo serves a Peruvian influnced Japanese-fusion cuisine and is always one of our top picks. We had an unforgettable dinner, we chose the tasting menu with lots of sashimi, several small plates, and a great bottle of wine.
El Farallon is a cliffside restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, with spectacular views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. El Farallon has an ocean-to-table menu and is known as one of the most romantic spots in Los Cabos.
Enjoy Los Cabos and reach out to us with any questions!
